Principles of Naturopathic Medicine

Harness the Healing Power of Nature – The naturopathic physician works to restore and support the powerful and inherent healing mechanisms of the body and mind. Naturopathic medicine harnesses the vast potential of the natural world to stimulate the process of healing.

Identify and Treat the Cause – The primary goal of the naturopathic physician is to determine and treat the underlying causes of illness, rather than only the symptoms.

Treat the Whole Person – The naturopathic physician treats the whole person, taking into account the complex interaction of physical, emotional, dietary, genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors.

Educate – The naturopathic physician provides the knowledge and tools to empower the individual to become responsible for his or her own health.

First Do No Harm – The naturopathic physician chooses the least invasive techniques with the least potential to cause harmful side effects.

Maintain Health – The naturopathic physician applies all of the above principles in a proactive form of prevention against the development of more serious chronic or degenerative diseases.

As a Naturopathic Physician I treat the whole person, identify and treat the underlying cause of disease, and use natural medicines to restore and maintain health. I employ a variety of natural therapies, including:

  • Diet, Lifestyle, and Exercise Modifications
  • Herbal Medicine
  • Nutritional Supplements
  • Natural Hormone Therapy
  • Intravenous Vitamins, Minerals, and Herbs

In my practice I take the time to listen to my patients and to understand their problems.

If you're tired, depressed, chronically ill, or just looking for a better way to feel your best and prevent disease, naturopathic medicine is the right choice for you.

Naturopathic doctors are specialists in natural medicine who empower people to take control of their health and wellness.

Getting to the Root Cause

As a naturopathic doctor, I specialize in identifying the underlying causes of disease.

If you’re chronically ill and are not getting any better, are tired of side effects from conventional medicines, or have been told that your disease is "in your head," then you need a naturopathic doctor to determine and treat the cause of your illness rather than just its symptoms.

As an example, irritable bowel syndrome may be caused by an underlying food allergy, poor digestion, or bacterial imbalance.  I focus on identifying and treating these causal factors.

Bridging the Gap

With naturopathic medicine, you get the best of both worlds. As a physician I use standard laboratory testing, perform physical exams, order imaging studies such as x-rays and ultrasounds, and prescribe both over-the-counter and prescription natural medicines. In addition to this, as a naturopath I look deeper for the underlying cause of disease and restore health naturally.
