In the 1900’s, people died primarily of infectious diseases such as pneumonia, tuberculosis, diphtheria and influenza. Now, the epidemic and  leading causes of death and disability are related to degenerative diseases such as coronary artery disease, stroke, cancer, Alzheimer’s dementia, arthritis, cataracts, macular degeneration, and so forth. This shift requires us to expand our thinking about the causes of these 20th century conditions. The overwhelming focus of medical care spent after we become sick and little is spent on prevention, yet it is much easier to maintain your health than to regain it after you are sick. So, the time is here to prevent illness and create a health-enhancing system!

Cellular Energy

To provide all the functions of all the organs in our body, the individual cells of our body go through a cycle of generation, wear and tear, and replacement as often as every couple of days. For each regeneration, the DNA must be copied perfectly. We completely change our skin approximately every 27 days, which amounts to a thousand new skins in a lifetime. Meanwhile our bones undergo a constant dismantling and remodeling and the skeleton is renewed every two years.

The Wellness/Disease Continuum

Wellness exists and disease begins in the individual cell. The health of the cell depends on the function of millions of critical molecules inside each cell. Scientific evidence in the past decade has provided irrefutable evidence that one of the primary causes of degenerative disease is oxidative damage to cells. This oxidative damage is caused by free radicals generated as by-products of cellular metabolism, by our polluted environment and by physical and/or emotional stress. Everyday billions of new cells are produced to replace those that have served before them. This natural process of regeneration is threatened by certain factors in our environment; toxins in the soil and water, pollutants in the air, radiation from the sun, preservatives in our processed foods

stress in our daily lives and lifestyle choices

The Epidemic of Degenerative Disease

The oxidative damage to cells caused by free radical activity from environmental pollution and poor lifestyle choices has overwhelmed the natural antioxidant defenses within the cells of our body. To regain balance we need to learn the six keys to creating optimal wellness.

6 Keys to Creating Optimal Wellness and Minimize Degenerative Disease

  1. Get Smart

Learn all you can about what it takes to stay healthy, lifelong. Get your information from reliable sources and don’t believe everything you hear or read. Learn about how to minimize your exposure to environmental toxins

  1. Get high-quality nutritional supplements

To complement your healthy diet, take high-quality nutritional supplements to guarantee your intake of essential nutrients. Select a supplement that provides the advanced daily doses shown to prevent chronic nutrient deficiencies that predispose us to degenerative disease

  1. Get active

The human body was designed to move. Physical activity is clearly linked with long-term health and reduced risk of Type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, and some cancers. A good physical fitness program will promote cardiovascular fitness, enhance insulin sensitivity, maintain flexibility, slow age-related loss of muscle mass and muscle tone and promote circulation of the lymphatic system that is essential to flushing toxins out of the body

  1. Get Relaxed

The mind and body are intertwined. A healthy body is simply impossible without mental health. And good physical health can never be fully realized without a positive mental attitude.

  1. Get Good Food

Limit the consumption of processed, highly refined foods, packaged foods and fast food. In particular, avoid snack foods, candy, soda pop, and other fat-, sugar-, and salt-laden junk. These “foods” tend to be calorie-rich, nutrient-poor, and high-glycemic, all of which contribute to overeating, obesity, diabetes and heart disease.

        6.      Get Water

Water makes up 90% of our blood, 85% of our brain, and 70% of the rest of our body. Even our bones and skeletal structure are 30% water.  Our body fluids are an internal ocean that regulates and drives all body functions. So go and get some quality water!
