Low testosterone is a condition that affects millions of men and produces a whole host of negative symptoms, but according to one study, not addressing it could lead to an increased risk of death. Researchers at Puget Sound Health Care System and University of Washington at Seattle investigated the hormone levels of 858 US military veterans over the age of 40. The study took place over 8 years, with doctors monitoring the testosterone levels of the men in the group, and examining their accompanying health issues.

The results of the study, which was published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, were nothing short of shocking: men who had low testosterone were at an 88% increased risk of death compared to men in the normal testosterone level group. This number comes even after adjusting for other factors that may have contributed to the increased risk of death such as age, illness, and obesity.  When further data analysis was done, and the number was adjusted for men who had died in the first year of the study, or had experienced a drop in testosterone due to a traumatic or stressful event, researchers found that men with low testosterone were at a 68% increased risk of death. The numbers are clear: there’s definitely a link between low testosterone levels and increased risk of death.

The study also found that 19% of men routinely had low testosterone, and another 28% fluctuated between low and normal levels. When extrapolated to the whole US population, these numbers mean that tens of millions of men suffer from low testosterone. That’s unfortunate, because thanks to modern medical science at American Longevity Center, low testosterone is not something that anyone has to live with.

Low Testosterone Is 100% Treatable

Low testosterone – also called andropause, is the male equivalent of menopause. It occurs naturally, with the average man seeing a decrease in testosterone levels of 1-2% per year after turning 30. Aside from having an increased risk of death, men with low testosterone might experience fatigue, tiredness, lack of energy or focus, depression, irritability, change in body composition, and a decline in libido or sexual performance.

Thankfully, with the hormone replacement therapy available at ALC, most men can see these symptoms eliminated altogether. With hormone replacement therapy, the body’s natural hormone production is supplemented, and a healthy balance is restored. Doctors at ALC custom design treatments for each man based on advanced diagnostic testing. The end result is that low testosterone, and related ailments, is a thing of the past.  It’s life sapping symptoms – and increased risk of death – are nothing more then unpleasant memories.

If you think you might have low testosterone, and would be a good candidate for hormone replacement therapy, consult the American Longevity Center today. Help is a phone call away!
