Is Agave Syrup Really A Healthy "Sugar" Substitute?

Uh Oh. Before you go on thinking you found your dream sugar substitute, sweeter than honey and sugar and healthier, read this. Agave Syrup has been the newest Super Star added to the growing list of Sugar Alternatives now available on grocery store shelves. Who wouldn't be intrigued by a sugar substitute touted as "No Glycemic", "Organic" and "Healthy"? It's no wonder that all of the information you find on Agave is positive. It is supposedly safe for diabetics and anyone wanting to watch their sugar intake. Taken straight from Blue Agave's website, several common claims found on many other sites as well:

"We are proud to present our newest health food product brand, Maya Olé. Our blue agave syrup is exclusively produced in Guadalajara, Mexico.

It is a natural, organic sweetener that is lower in calories than sugar and has a very low glycemic index, allowing it to be used, under medical guidance, by persons concerned with sugar intake. Modern medical science is revealing more and more the harmful effects of sugar, and how sugar is linked to numerous illnesses and health problems, including obesity and diabetes. Organic blue agave syrup can be used as a healthy and natural sweetener to replace sugar in cooking, beverages, and baking."

As is often the case though, not all is at seems. Agave is apparently absorbed by the body just like other sugars and isn't the "No-Glycemic" wonder sweetener after all. Please read this extremely thorough article from Mercola.Com below.

Warning! Memory Foam Mattresses Are Toxic!

Do You know what dirty little secrets the mattress industry are keeping from you? Do you have any idea what materials are used in making Memory Foam Mattresses? The mattress industry is very unique in that they don't have to disclose the exact contents of their materials, ever! As long as they put a tag on it that says 100% New Materials, and Flame Retardant, they can stick whatever they feel like in their mattresses! Don't you find this a bit alarming? Why don't they have to be accountable and transparent? How Dangerous Is Botox? What Doctor's Don't Want You To Know!

As someone who recently turned 40, I am all too aware of the fact that most of my friends, often 10 years younger than me, have started getting Botox on a regular basis. Living in South Florida just adds to the pressure women feel to look as young and wrinkle-free for as long as possible. I have conversations with women my age all the time, who have not one wrinkle on their face. As I look at them I wonder, how long can they keep going like this? Do they look more youthful? Perhaps. However I wonder why so few women question the long term effects of what Botox is actually doing to their bodies. I find it fascinating that if their Dr. tells them it's perfectly safe, then they just blindly trust that it must be safe! Botulinum toxin, one of the most poisonous substances in the world, was approved for commercial use in 1989.

Botox injections work by temporarily paralysing facial muscles, reducing the contractions that cause new wrinkles and ironing out existing ones. The botulinum toxin cuts off communication between nerve cells by destroying a protein named SNAP-25.
